Biography
AZUR ANNORA Young Azur was always looking out for his younger brother. After their parents were killed in a mysterious government intervention to evacuate striking workers from the East Side food packing facility, the children who remained were rounded up and sent to camps, where they were trained to provide support for automated sorting and packages systems. Replacing people with drone tech was the main reason for the workers standing up and demanding security for their jobs. Azur was always brighter than the other kids. At fifteen, he understood the significance of what was happening and decided to protect himself and his little brother. Using all the knowledge he had acquired from his parents and his appetite for reading, he devised a plan. They would move when the sun fell beneath the wall of glass and cement skyscrapers. As the light dimmed and scattered across the millions of windows, he knew it would be impossible for cameras to track their movements. They moved fast into the night. Others soon joined them. Over the first few years, competition for survival became fierce. Azur used all his wits to outsmart the competition. His brother, on the other hand, was more direct. Even as a young teen, his alpha instincts drew him out into the open to confront any challenger head on. He became known as a head-butter, figuratively and literally. Luckily, Azur was adept and efficient and knew all the best remedies for his injuries. He could make use of just about any substance to create a poultice or treatment. His knowledge of chemistry and artificial titration technology was unmatched on the streets. As long as he didn’t break any bones, they would be fine—he kept telling himself. Together, the Annoras devised the best system for acquiring products to resell on the streets, to dark businesses, and regular people desperate to find food or other goods without having their actions scanned into the citywide database. As technology continued to improve, the quality of life of the people who remained in the city declined. Azur was not only aware of the state of the city but always thinking of a future which would restore fundamental humanity back to his people. In the meantime, he focused on treating his brothers' never-ending scrapes and maintaining their dominance among the dusk runners. On his brother's twentieth birthday, Azur was captured on an undercover tech delivery sting operation. When they were arrested, he thought to himself, I knew it. I had a feeling this was too easy. Nothing was ever easy in life. And if it was, it was not worth it. Luckily, the agents offered his and his brother a place in the state military. They quickly rose in the ranks and were entrusted as officers overseeing crucial operations, which they easily mastered. Impressing his superiors was something that Azur learned to enjoy. With each new mission, he employed the most innovative solutions, often introducing completely new standards and strategies in the field. He and his brother were both promoted to the highest ranks in their respective divisions. Azur retired with the title of Admiral Major in the High-Altitude Stealth Aerial Initiative (HASAI). Highly decorated for his service, Azur was also honored with the International Medal of Gratitude for his service in safeguarding the world against rogue interference from Artificial Satellite Intelligence.
